The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from motivated and detail oriented applicants to directly support the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra.

This is an ongoing role situated within Finance Office. The Finance Office, within the Members' and Corporate Support program overseen by the Serjeant-at-Arms, supports the work of the House of Representatives and its committees through the provision of financial services and resource management guidance. By working collaboratively with business areas, the office manages internal and external budgetary requirements along with statutory and management financial reporting. The team delivers financial processing services and provides tailored financial information and procurement advice to assist internal stakeholders deliver outcomes.

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer, under limited direction, undertakes complex finance related activities and tasks. The Senior Finance Officer works collaboratively within a small team and is responsible for providing operational support, detailed technical, professional, and policy advice in relation to finance and procurement and will assist in policy development to achieve the objectives of the office. The Senior Finance Officer has an understanding of legislative, regulatory and compliance frameworks, demonstrates excellent communication skills within their area of responsibility and values and nurtures a culture of innovation and service delivery.
