About the role

This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced Electrical Project Estimator to join the team at AJ Mcdonnell Electrical Pty Ltd in Redhead, NSW. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for providing precise cost estimates and timelines for electrical construction projects, ensuring the successful delivery of projects within budget and timeline.

What you'll be doing

  • Conducting detailed cost analysis and preparing comprehensive project estimates for electrical construction projects
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers to gather accurate pricing information
  • Reviewing project plans, specifications and drawings to identify all required materials, labour and equipment
  • Preparing detailed cost breakdowns, project schedules and risk assessments
  • Providing recommendations to the project team to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Monitoring project costs throughout the construction phase and adjusting estimates as needed
  • Collaborating with the project management team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as an Electrical Project Estimator or similar role in the construction industry
  • Thorough understanding of electrical systems, materials, labour requirements and construction methods
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and contract documents
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with clients, subcontractors and the project team
  • Proficient in the use of estimating software and MS Office suite
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in electrical engineering or construction management preferred
