Blackfriars is an independent Catholic School under the governance of the Dominican Friars, committed to providing a well-rounded education that caters specifically to the needs of boys: academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

Blackfriars enrols boys and girls into the Early Learning Centre and boys only from Reception to Year 12.

Role Details

The Development Officer (Old Scholars + Community Relations) is a member of the Development Office with responsibility for actively contributing to an environment where parents, families, old scholars and friends of the school feel welcome and engaged in the life of Blackfriars.

Key responsibilities of the Development Officer (Old Scholars + Community Relations) include coordination and day-to-day support for the activities of the Blackfriars Parents & Friends Association and Old Scholars Association, and stewardship of the school's relationships with Blackfriars Old Scholars Association affiliate clubs, and the school's local and supplier community.

The Development Officer (Old Scholars + Community Relations) has oversight of the school's community database and assists the fundraising initiatives of the school.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Administration, Business, Event Management, Marketing, or Communications (or equivalent) and/or relevant demonstrated knowledge and experience in a comparable role.
  • An understanding of contemporary communications theory and practice including professional use of social media channels and website maintenance using a content management system.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, delivering, hosting, and administering events and small projects including developing associated procedures and documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Able to maintain a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

Additional requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check and Catholic Education SA clearance.
  • Current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN-EC) certificate.
  • First Aid certification relevant to the role.
