Position Overview:

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive Disability Support Worker to provide person-centred care for a 47 year old female living with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. The role involves supporting daily living, communication, minimal personal care, social inclusion, and promoting independence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with minimal personal care.

  • Encourage participation in daily routines, recreational activities, and community engagement to enhance quality of life.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment, including monitoring health needs and administering medication (if required).

  • Work collaboratively with family members, allied health professionals, and support teams.

  • Promote independence while providing reassurance, patience, and encouragement.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to person-centred care.

  • Experience in disability support, particularly with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm, respectful, and supportive manner.

  • Good physical fitness to help aid outdoor activity's I.e Walking

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and routines.

Preferable Qualifications - not essential

  • Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, or equivalent.

  • Valid driver's licence

  • Experience with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome or similar conditions is highly valued but not essential

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $50.00 – $60.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
