Male Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health Needs

About Us

At PJ Disability Care, we are committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support that empowers individuals to live with dignity and independence. We are now seeking experienced and compassionate Male Disability Support Workers to join our team to support a participant with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours.

About the Role

This is a specialised role where experience is essential. You will be working closely with a participant who requires intensive support, including managing behaviours such as aggression and other high-risk situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, person-centred support for a participant with complex mental health needs.

  • Manage challenging behaviours safely and professionally.

  • Support daily living tasks and encourage independence.

  • Follow and implement individualised behaviour support plans.

  • Accurately record incidents, progress, and observations.

  • Work collaboratively with our team to ensure consistent, safe, and effective care.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in mental health or disability support, specifically with high-risk behaviours.

  • Proven ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient under pressure.

  • Strong knowledge of mental health conditions and behaviour management strategies.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check, and First Aid/CPR.

  • Relevant qualifications in mental health/disability (desirable).

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.

  • Male applicants only (as permitted under the Anti-Discrimination Act due to personal care and participant needs).
