Male Disability Support Worker – Complex Mental Health Needs
About Us
At PJ Disability Care, we are committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support that empowers individuals to live with dignity and independence. We are now seeking experienced and compassionate Male Disability Support Workers to join our team to support a participant with complex mental health needs and challenging behaviours.
About the Role
This is a specialised role where experience is essential. You will be working closely with a participant who requires intensive support, including managing behaviours such as aggression and other high-risk situations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, person-centred support for a participant with complex mental health needs.
Manage challenging behaviours safely and professionally.
Support daily living tasks and encourage independence.
Follow and implement individualised behaviour support plans.
Accurately record incidents, progress, and observations.
Work collaboratively with our team to ensure consistent, safe, and effective care.
Key Requirements
Minimum 2+ years' experience in mental health or disability support, specifically with high-risk behaviours.
Proven ability to remain calm, professional, and resilient under pressure.
Strong knowledge of mental health conditions and behaviour management strategies.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check, and First Aid/CPR.
Relevant qualifications in mental health/disability (desirable).
Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Male applicants only (as permitted under the Anti-Discrimination Act due to personal care and participant needs).
