About Us

Women's Lantern is a newly established survivor-led, non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering migrant & Southeast Asian women impacted by domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV) in Australia and Indonesia. Through trauma-informed and culturally grounded programs, we focus on building pathways to safety, belonging and empowerment. Our mission is to walk alongside survivors and communities to co-create a future where all women are safe, seen, and thriving.

Role Description

We're seeking an experienced Solar Energy Lead to guide the initial launch and development of LightHer Path - our flagship solar energy program at Women's Lantern, equipping survivors with hands-on skills and pathways to dignified income. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to play a key role in the rollout of a brand new social enterprise model, merging technical expertise and purpose-driven work to make a difference in the lives of DFSV survivors.

Reporting to the CEO, you'll combine your solar/engineering background with values-led leadership to:

  1. Oversee training & solar kit delivery for lantern making
  2. Build partnerships with solar experts, trainers & grassroots organisations
  3. Support and champion women into pathways in STEM and sustainability

Role Requirements

This is a hybrid, part-time role with an estimated time commitment of 
10-12 hours per month
, including attendance to occasional project meetings and launch events on weeknights/weekends (Sydney time) during the rollout stage.

We are a small, dedicated volunteer-powered team creating something new and impactful - a minimum commitment of 6 months to the role is preferred to support the success and continuity of the program.

Selection Criteria

  • A background and technical knowledge in solar engineering or STEM fields
  • Highly organised with good project management skills
  • Strong communication and teaching skills
  • Ability to engage with people from all walks of life and backgrounds
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cultural, trauma-informed context
