For more than 40 years, the North Qld Export Terminal, located at the Port of Abbot Point, has demonstrated its commitment to safety, efficiency, responsibility, and partnership with the local community.

APO has been contracted by North Queensland Export Terminal Pty Ltd to manage operations of its coal export terminal at the Port of Abbot Point—Australia's northernmost coal port—located 25 kilometres north of Bowen, between Townsville and Mackay, serving as the gateway to the Whitsundays.

Abbot Point Operations has an exciting opportunity for a Contracts Coordinator to support our Commercial team in the delivery and management of a wide range of capital contracts.

This is a fixed term position for a period of 18 months.

As the Contracts Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and compliant establishment and administration of commercial agreements supporting the delivery of key capital projects for the business.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and assess contract strategy options, identifying and mitigating    commercial and legal risks
  • Lead tender negotiations, contract creation and supplier performance monitoring
  • Implement and administer commercial agreements across capital projects.
  • Apply strong contract interpretation and administration skills to drive delivery of value to the business from its contracts.
  • Manage multiple construction and other capital contracts.
  • Collaborate with other business teams to ensure delivery of great outcomes.

What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar contracts administration role
  • Background in operations or construction or project delivery-based contracting
  • Strong understanding of legal, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Relevant university qualifications in procurement, law, business, or related discipline
