About The Role
The Contract Management team are pivotal to the success of our yearly growth targets. You are empowered to use your commercial contract law knowledge and business acumen, to share in the reviewing and marking up of draft agreements to prepare the sales lead to negotiate with our customer to reach agreement and execute multi-year contracts.
Your ability to identify and understand commercial and legal risks within agreements, balanced with understanding commercial outcomes proposed by our Pricing Team, is your opportunity to contribute to winning and retaining our customers from across Australia.
Joining COS as our second Contracts Officer, you are part of the Bids and Contracts team of 5 who prepare and submit Bids and Tenders for our National Sales Team of 135 across Australia. The team is led by the Bids and Contracts Manager, who encourages collaboration, innovation, curiosity and sharing of learned experiences to empower working autonomously and accurately.
Our goal is to achieve optimal contract outcomes, enhance our processes through AI and maintain contract currency through our best-in-class Contract Lifecycle Management system - Ironclad. By contributing to continuous improvement in contract processes, clause libraries, and agreement templates, the Contract Management team are leaders in our Industry.
You will be supported with ongoing training and mentoring, to utilise your legal knowledge, stretch your business acumen, and build relationships with the COS family Australia which includes commercial analysts, business intelligence, finance and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review incoming agreement requests to identify commercial and legal risks
- Drafting and negotiating contract departures for tenders and proposals submissions
- Preparing agreements including NDAs, addendums, and variations for execution and archiving.
- Collaborate across teams to reach the preferred position of the company in agreement with commercial and sales manager and coordinate approvals.
- Collaborate with external legal practitioners for advice on customer negotiations
- Identify changes required to our Clause Library, Agreement templates and Commercial Policy with the Commercial Manager and Bids and Contracts Manager
- Maintain the CLM Repository and quality of customer contract information.
More about you
- Experience in the contract administration / procurement of the Business-to-Business sector (FMCG, business supplies, hardware supplies, etc purchased for workplaces)
- Exposure to Government and large Corporation customer contracts, experienced in negotiations across sales, procurement and legal professionals to reach agreement.
- Advanced MS Office skills, familiar with ERP systems and AI interfaces.
- Motivated to be part of a team to win and retain customer contract business
- Authentic and self-aware to collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present information clearly.
- Well-organised, enthusiastic, self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to think commercially and understand legal risks and adjust risk profile accordingly.
