This is an exciting opportunity to join Air Control Australia as a full-time Accounts Payable Team Leader based at our Head Office in Bayswater, Victoria. As Team Leader, you will play a vital role to oversee and guide our AP function, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • High volume of approximately 200 invoices per day
  • Ensure accurate processing of invoices, credit notes, and supplier reconciliations
  • Schedule and process supplier payments
  • Cashflow management
  • Manage supplier and subcontractor databases, including insurances and licences
  • Manage credit card transactions and policy compliance
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Multiple legal entities
  • Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable team, providing leadership, mentoring, and training
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and resolve queries promptly
  • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation
  • Assist with the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Prepare and review AP reports, KPIs, and month-end reconciliations
  • Collaborate with finance and operational teams to support broader business goals

About You

  • Proven track record in a similar role, experience in Accounts Payable minimum 10 years, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, MYOB)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills especially Excel
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong understanding of AP processes, controls, compliance and reporting
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Ideas and innovation for better processes, curiosity, question the status quo
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical skills, with the ability to accurately maintain financial records
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional integrity and a proactive, innovative mindset
  • Relevant qualifications in accounting or finance would be highly regarded

Highly regarded (but not essential):

  • Construction industry knowledge in terms of the Security of Payments Act (Australia wide), progress claims, cash retentions & bank guarantees
