Chandler Macleod are excited to be partnering with a global engineering organisation to support their accounting team in Mayfield East. This position offers valuable hands-on experience in financial operations, providing essential support to the management team to ensure the profitable and ethical management of the company.

Our client is a global trusted firm that has significant experience working in many areas of Australia, Papua New Guinea, Malaysia, Thailand and New Zealand. In Australia since 1974, they perform specialised refractory work in many industrial sectors including Steel Plants, Cement Plants, Aluminium Smelters, Oil Refineries, Mineral Processing and Power Stations.

This role is ideally suited to someone with 2-3 years experience who is seeking mentorship and the opportunity to develop their skills and experience within a friendly and supportive team environment.

About the role

The AP & Accounts Support Officer plays a key supporting role within the finance team, assisting the Senior Accountant with daily, weekly, and monthly financial tasks. This position is responsible for aiding in the preparation of project financial reports, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting. The role requires close collaboration with project management and administrative personnel to conduct detailed project cost analysis and support financial decision-making.

This role is ideally suited to someone with 2-3 years experience who is seeking mentorship and the opportunity to develop their skills and experience within a friendly and supportive team environment. 

Key responsibilities

Assisting with subcontract progress claims, payments, variations, and other financial claims while ensuring compliance with company policies and ethical standards. The AP & Accounts Support Officer also contributes to payroll processing, purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions. Additional duties may involve general administrative tasks and project support, including client billing sheets and payroll timesheet management.

• Advanced MS, Pivot Tables and Excel skills
• Accuracy of data entry and attention to detail
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Confidence in communicating with internal & external staff within a team environment
• Maintain confidentiality of Accounts & Wage details
• Adhere to existing policies & procedures for the administration of company finances
• Able to be flexible between departments – multitasking
• Self sufficient in time management
• Happy to be a team player
• Prepared to upskill with a view for Accounting Support role in time
