About the role

The Accounts officer role is a core role within the finance team. They are responsible for supporting the organisation's mission by delivering high-quality, timely work and completing a range of administrative process driven duties within the finance department. Reporting to the Accounts Team Lead, you will also be responsible for administering, preparing, and calculating payroll processing activities to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services. 

The successful applicant's core responsibilities will be:

  • Complete finance tasks such as payroll, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and reporting;
  • Take ownership of regular processes, ensuring they are accurate and completed on time;
  • Handle finance-related mail, banking, and compliance tasks with attention to detail;
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to share results and resolve discrepancies;
  • Work collaboratively within the team to achieve strong results and positive relationships.

About you

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Well-developed skills with Microsoft Office suite;
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management;
  • Ability to understand complex processes and technical systems;
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills;
  • Well developed communication skills and ability to maintain good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Accounting/Payroll or equivalent qualification;
  • Previous experience in a similar role;
  • Strong knowledge of [Australian] payroll legislation (PAYG, superannuation, Fair Work Act).
