This part-time role delivers the Dual Diagnosis counselling program that supports young people at-risk or experiencing homelessness and multiple vulnerabilities to achieve their personal goals around alcohol and other drug use. As part of the BYS Health team, this position provides counselling support, delivered individually and in groups; and works collaboratively with the community to effectively respond to issues associated with alcohol and other drug use.
You'll be a great candidate for this role if you:
- Have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Allied Health Disciplines, or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Work or other comparable qualification.
- Can demonstrate proven experience supporting vulnerable young people and families facing or at risk of homelessness, with strong insight into their needs and challenges.
- Have a deep understanding of youth AOD use and trends, with skills in delivering crisis responses and therapeutic interventions within established practice frameworks.
- Can deliver the counselling program in line with funding, guidelines, and contractual obligations.
- Have excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to engage young people and collaborate effectively with professionals and service networks.
Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You'll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:
- A Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
- A National Coordinated Criminal History Check [Police Check].
- Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella [Chicken Pox], Pertussis [Whooping Cough], and Hepatitis B.
