The companyWe have been engaged to recruit a Bookkeeper for a rapidly growing property-related business in South Melbourne.  The business consists of a diverse range of complementary offerings and is enjoying a strong period of financial growth.  They are currently managing several projects across Australia and have an impressive pipeline of work.

The roleAn exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join the organisation as a Bookkeeper.  The purpose of this role is to undertake all of the bookkeeping functions across the company as well as taking on additional HR duties.  In a high-performing culture, you will work in a tight-knit team and report directly into the Directors.  You will be required to manage key relationships, both internally and externally, and across all levels.  The role will include elements of hands-on duties as well as higher level tasks.  It is a diverse role that will partner closely multiple areas of the business.  

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Banking and cash flow requirements - receipting on a daily basis, and maintaining cash flow requirements across the short to medium term
  • Accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Payroll
  • Reconciliations
  • Month end close and reporting
  • Assistance with tax compliance e.g. BAS, IAS, PAYG, payroll tax etc
  • Regularly liaise with the external accountants
  • HR duties such as onboarding, offboarding, policy creation,  documentation, employee support, WorkCover, training and development
  • Ad-hoc project and administrative work

The successful candidateIn order to secure this position, you will be a hands-on bookkeeper that's also had some HR experience.  You will be adaptable and place a strong emphasis on relationship building and business partnering across all levels.  The following will be favourably looked upon:

  • Relevant bookkeeping and/or tertiary qualifications
  • Relevant industry experience in a similar role, ideally within a SME environment
  • Strong Excel and Xero skills
  • HR experience including onboarding and offboarding
  • Stakeholder management experience across all levels
  • Deadline-driven
  • Outstanding communication skills
