About Us

Jalan Jalan Eats is a newly established restaurant in Ballarat, dedicated to bringing the authentic flavours of Malaysia to regional Victoria.

We take pride in serving a diverse range of Malaysian dishes inspired by Malay, Chinese, and Indian heritage.

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef who can lead our kitchen operations and contribute to shaping a distinctive Malaysian dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present authentic Malaysian dishes to a consistently high standard
  • Develop, plan, and update menus that showcase traditional and modern Malaysian cuisine
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, stock control, and hygiene standards
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety and cleanliness regulations
  • Supervise and mentor kitchen staff in food preparation and service standards
  • Work closely with management to ensure smooth kitchen operation and customer satisfaction

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum required)
  • Certificate IV and/or Diploma in Commercial Cookery (preferred)
  • Proven expertise in preparing Malaysian cuisine (Malay, Chinese, and Indian styles)
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
  • Willingness to work on weekends and evenings as required
