About Us

We are a small boutique, CPA accounting firm based in Mt Gambier SA providing primarily remote business accounting and bookkeeping services to clients in a broad range of industries. We are seeking a rockstar Bookkeeper who loves what they do because they are doing what they love Formal qualifications in bookkeeping is essential, as well as experience in Xero and MYOB. You must also be highly proficient in MS Excel and the Google Suite, very organised, able to work under limited supervision and have a great 'vibe'.

About the Role

The role will be responsible for preparing accurate, timely and error-free client accounts in line with work schedules. Regular tasks will include processing and/or reviewing weekly/fortnightly payroll, accounts payable/receivable and bank reconciliations.  This position will also focus on quality communication both within the SBM team and with clients to meet deadlines and achieve high client satisfaction.

This role will ensure that:

  • High quality bookkeeping practices are in place
  • Responses to client queries are timely, accurate and thoughtful
  • Client bookkeeping deadlines are achieved and all work assignments are performed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Finance processes are efficient and controls are in place
  • Work is error free
  • The firm's policies and procedures are complied with
  • Client and firm confidentiality is maintained
  • You love what they do and are doing what you love
  • This casual role offers flexible scheduling arrangements
  • The expected working hours for this position are 10-20 hours per week
  • A competitive hourly rate will be negotiated based on skills, experience and expertise.

Australian work rights are required for this position.

About you

  • Certificate IV or higher qualification in Bookkeeping
  • Experience with hands on bookkeeping/accounting, including BAS, Payroll Tax, FBT and other reporting
  • Demonstrated experience with Xero and MYOB accounting software
  • Minimum 1-2 years of bookkeeping experience
  • High level numeracy and reconciliation skills, with demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with figures
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative, prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate Excel skills
