Our Queensland Government client is seeking to engage an experienced **Project Officer** for Workers' Compensation Regulatory Services (WCRS). You will be responsible for working closely with the Project Manager and the Review and Appeals leadership team to drive key strategic and business improvement projects. You will liaise and coordinate with various areas within the Department and provide advice that contributes to the development of multiple initiatives. You will use your project management skills and experience to ensure projects meet milestones and all parties are kept informed about the status and potential risks and barriers to completion.
WCRS has specific legislative and policy responsibilities to ensure a fair and efficient workers' compensation scheme that balances the needs of workers and employers. The division has responsibility for regulating insurers, dispute resolution, providing rehabilitation advisory services, promoting education about the scheme, and implementing the government's policy and legislative agenda.
This is an initial 12-month contract with a potential 6-month extension, based in Brisbane's CBD.
**As Project Officer, you will be required to**:
- Contribute to the delivery of key projects relevant to WCRS including, but not limited to, the: implementation of recommendations for a sustainable operating model for the Review Unit; implementation of a program of work to deliver business process and service delivery improvements across Review and Appeals
- Contribute to the development of initiatives through researching and analysing issues to draw accurate conclusions based on evidence
- Prepare briefing documents, submissions, and correspondence as required to support project activities
- Contribute to project status reports and routinely monitor and report on the progress of projects and associated risks and issues to all relevant stakeholders
- Liaise and coordinate with business units across the Department and work across boundaries to build strong networks
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
- Actively participate as an effective team member and influence others by communicating complex information to support clear, customer focused outcomes
- Actively participate in ad-hoc activities and projects as determined by the Director and Executive Director.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills with an ability to research and integrate information from diverse sources.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively managing projects and initiatives to achieve project deliverables and outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a member of a team and take initiative to progress work, commit to meeting objectives and maintain effective performance levels.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and experience in building strong internal and external relationships.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to prepare timely and accurate professional reports and project documents.
