**The Role**
We are looking for an energetic and curious Security and Risk Advisor. The role demands a mix of self-driven risk and security improvement initiatives, regular corporate reporting responsibilities, advice and support to our personnel, and developing and implementing associated frameworks and policies for Vice Chief of the Defence Force Group (VCDFG), as well as input to the broader Defence risk and security work.
You will need to juggle multiple priorities, coordinate tasks and engage with a wide range of stakeholders. You will play an important role supporting VCDFG, by solving complex issues, providing informed risk and security advice to our senior leaders, and help promulgate a culture of risk-based decision making across our Group.
**About our Team**
The Directorate of Governance and Coordination provides corporate enabling functions to VCDFG and ADF Headquarters. We oversee security and risk management, ministerial coordination, and governance and assurance. No two days look the same in our team. You will pivot between working on longer-term policy proposals and projects, and high-priority urgent tasks that demand whole-of-team collaboration and effort.
We reside in Defence’s strategic centre. This means you will be afforded closeness and trust with our senior leadership, remit to influence whole-of-enterprise initiatives, and opportunities to make positive changes.
You enjoy working in a team environment and being collaborative, and are self-driven to achieve individual tasks. You understand how to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and to balance priorities.
- An ability to respond appropriately to dynamic and evolving tasking requirements.
- Skills to negotiate with a variety of stakeholders to manage workloads, timeframes, expectations and escalated enquiries.
- Excellent administration and time management skills and be able to coordinate and manage competing priorities.
- Ability in preparation of complex correspondence, reports, and policy and procedural documents for review and publication.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous experience or training in security or risk management is ideal but not essential.
