**About Us**:
The Rural, Remote and Strategic Initiatives branch leads projects and initiatives aimed at supporting Queensland's rural and remote state schools and strategic initiatives relating to Equity and Excellence: realising the potential of every student (the Education Strategy). The strategic initiatives in the Education Strategy in which the branch leads include: Integrated responses and educational precincts; and Digital innovation in teaching and learning, specifically enhancing the capability and confidence of teachers in digital teaching and learning and establishing a virtual academy to enhance access across the state to teaching expertise.

**About the Role**:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Executive support: Provision of efficient, confidential, professional and proactive support to the Assistant Director-General, Rural, Remote and Strategic Initiatives.
- Project and work support: Coordinate and assist with projects and work tasks ensuring timely completion, adherence to budgets, and achievement of project and work goals.
- Use of key systems: Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of key departmental administrative systems such as SAP (finance system), QTravel (travel booking), ExpenseMe (expense management) and Content Manager (records management).
- Policies and procedures: Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of departmental policies and procedures, including purchasing, procurement, HR and travel.
- Departmental operations: Knowledge, or the ability to acquire knowledge, of departmental operations, including approval protocols and navigating a large organisation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as government agencies, educational institutions, and community organisations, to foster good relationships.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in current processes and propose innovative solutions to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of work, projects and initiatives.

Highly desirable skills and experience;
- Knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, the policies and procedures required to support the administrative and financial services support functions in Schools and Student Support Division.
- Demonstrated ability in meeting deadlines and commitments, determining work priorities and contributing own expertise to achieve outcomes for the business unit.
- Ability to work in a team environment, autonomously, and ability to liaise with officers from other Queensland government departments, agencies, schools, clients and members of the public while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to take personal responsibility for accurate completion of work and to seek assistance when required.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to structure written and oral communication so it is easy to follow.
- Willingness to join a collegial, supportive, friendly and robust team environment with a strong work ethic.
