Experienced Governance Officer required for a busy Local Government in Perth Metro region on a permanent basis

Hays are partnering with a vibrant Local Government situated in the inner suburbs of Perth. The Council is looking for an experienced Governance Officer to join their Governance and Risk team on a permanent basis.

**Your new role**

The Governance Officer will be responsible for providing support across Council and Committees, including concept forums and related processes. Key responsibilities of the position include:

- Attend Council, Committee and other meetings to provide administrative support and coordination including minute taking, preparation of agendas and minute coordination
- Update and maintain council registers including meeting summaries, gift registers, attendance lists, financial interest register, primary and annual returns and Councillor trainin
- Manage public question and address requests
- Monitor correspondence for Elected Members, prioritising matters that require immediate attention
- Develop and maintain systems and business processes for high-quality administrative support
- Provide advice to Elected Members and staff on relevant legislation
- Assist with conduct of Local Government elections

**What you'll need to succeed**
- 5 years of experience working in a Local Government Governance role/Local Government Statutory administrative role or equivalent administrative experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to convey information clearly
- Knowledge and experience interpreting the Local Government Act 1995 regulations, standards and governance practices
- Strong Microsoft Suite experience
- National Police Certificate
- Committee Meeting - every Monday - 5.30pm for about 1.5 hours

Council Meeting Agenda Forums - 2nd Tuesday of each month - 7pm for about 2 hours

Council Meeting - 4th Tuesday of each month - 7pm for about 3.5-4 hours
