PERSOLKELLY have partnered with government client seeking a** Governance Officer **to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Council Governance and Policy Officer supports the Council Governance function to enhance the formal decision-making process of the City, from coordination of the local government's elections and supporting processes to the development of procedures to ensure business continuation.

Reporting to the Coordinator of Governance and Risk, the Governance Officer will be responsible for providing administrative support across Council and Committees, including concept forums and related processes.

**Key responsibilities**:

- Attendance at Council, Committee, and other relevant meetings to provide administrative support and coordination, including minute taking.
- Coordinate the preparation and distribution of agendas and minutes for meetings.
- Update Council registers including attendance lists, meeting summaries, gift registers, financial interest register, primary and annual returns, and Councillor training.
- Coordinate Council support including public question and address requests.
- Prioritise and monitor correspondence for Elected Members, identifying matters requiring immediate attention.
- Develop and maintain systems and business processes for high-quality administrative support.
- Provide administrative advice to Elected Members and staff on relevant legislation.
- Assist with the conduct and administration of local government elections.

**About you**:

- Extensive experience in a similar governance role or equivalent administration experience.
- Knowledge and experience with the Local Government Act 1995.
- Proficient in MS Office and database skills.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Able to provide a National Police Clearance.
