About the role
This position is responsible for leading the development and engagement of the emergency services workforce, including employees and volunteers, in their respective state or territory. As a part of the Emergency Services division, this role ensures that local Emergency Services workforce is adequately trained, prepared, and equipped to support communities before, during and after disasters. The Specialist will support the coordination of development, training and engagement activities, conduct readiness assessments, and foster a culture of readiness and commitment among the local workforce.
About you
As a specialist in incident management, emergency response, community engagement, or related fields, you will bring experience in coordinating with internal stakeholders and facilitating cross-functional collaboration within a team environment. You’ll have demonstrated experience engaging and managing volunteers.
In addition, you’ll demonstrate a track record of effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals and objectives.
Key behavioural and technical capabilities
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse workforce in a state or territory-specific context.
- Skilled in assessing capability needs and workforce readiness, and in developing effective engagement solutions.
- Demonstrated sound technical knowledge and expertise in workforce development, training methodologies, and volunteer management within emergency services contexts
- Strong capability to work with various stakeholders, and build collaborative and innovative culture
- Flexibility to adjust to meet evolving local needs and emerging challenges.
- Strong organisational and strategic planning abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This role is covered by the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award - Level 5. Salary from $100,776.00 FTE + superannuation + salary packaging options.
