**Purpose / Objective**
The Welcome volunteer position is key in helping ASC create a welcoming and safe environment for people accessing our services. The role is front-line and involves facilitating a welcome and induction session for new clients.
**Commitment period**: Minimum 3-month commitment (Role is ongoing)
**Days per week**: Once fortnightly, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm
**Reports to**: Community Engagement Specialist
**Duties & Tasks**
- Facilitate Welcome Induction monthly group session for new clients. The session will be for clients who have recently registered with our Centre and aimed at providing information about ASC and wider-Sydney services.
- Ensure that information provided to clients is easy to understand, updated, and useful to clients.
- Coordinate and arrange bookings for Welcome sessions using the internal database
- Help clients requesting various practical needs, e.g. clothing, laptop, travel card etc by making referrals to appropriate services within ASC.
- Work with fellow volunteers in the Main Hall to ensure clients waiting are supported with their questions
- Prepare and setup Main Hall in the morning to ensure a welcoming and vibrant space
- Work with various spreadsheets and systems to record information, contact clients and make requests on behalf of clients
**Selection Criteria**
- Experience in working with people from various backgrounds and cultures
- Strong computer skills. Volunteers must be confident to use computers and systems independently with mínimal assistance
- Sociable, warm and outgoing personality
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Patience to teach and explain
- Flexibility and willingness to juggle multiple tasks as well as take on extra tasks as necessary
- Ability to work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers

- Adhere to ASC’s vision, purpose and values
- Act at all times in accordance with ASC’s Code of Conduct and Child Protection Policies
- Undertake a NSW Working with Children Check prior to commencement and ensure it is up-to-date
- Comply with Work, Health and Safety systems
- Comply with Incident Management Procedures and emergency protocols
- Demonstrate a respectful and welcoming behaviour with all people at ASC in culturally appropriate ways
- Support a child-safe organisation by undertaking screening for suitability to work with children and vulnerable people and to comply with relevant state/territory legislative requirements
