**About the role**
Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP) currently has a volunteering opportunity for 2 lawyers or legal students to work remotely with our Greenpeace Australia Pacific legal counsel commencing mid-November. Please note there is a minimum commitment of 7 hours per week for 3 months (with option to continue). We are ideally looking for someone who can volunteer 2 to 3 days per week from November to January. You will get the opportunity to contribute to some exciting legal projects and iconic campaigns, including working with the Vanuatu Government and civil society allies to take the issue of climate change and human rights to the International Court of Justice.
**About You**
As a volunteer within GPAP, you will receive training and supervision and will gain experience undertaking contract review, provision of small advices on various legal and governance matters (e.g. employment law, IP), policy work and advocacy in the form of submissions on behalf of GPAP to parliament. The roles will be suited to qualified lawyers or law students in their 4th or 5th year of their undergraduate degree (or 2nd or 3rd year of their JD), although this is not a requirement.
Above all we’re looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong research skills who are excited by the prospect of defending the environment.
