**About the role**

In this role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies for the promotion, development and leadership of Greater Geelong and The Bellarine as a tourism destination. This position will contribute to the delivery of the overall strategic objectives of Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine as part of the leadership team of the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

- In cooperation with the Tourism Greater Geelong and The Bellarine Strategy, Board and Senior Management, create and implement a marketing action plan for the Marketing and Communications Unit within budget guidelines.
- Develop and maintain an interest in the wider tourism market through relationship building, presentations and representation with industry personnel and national associations especially to Tourism Members, Tourism Victoria, Victorian Tourism Industry Council, Tourism Australia as well as relevant marketing and communications agencies.
- People Leadership - provide direction and support to tourism marketing and communications staff, coordinating the team to meet marketing plan objectives and empowering each member to deliver on their own priorities to achieve overall goals.
- Develop, implement and evaluate strategic tactical marketing and communications campaigns within budget
- Research, develop, implement and evaluate online programs to increase the online presence of the Greater Geelong and The Bellarine region

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have Tertiary qualifications in marketing or tourism or substantial experience and professional qualifications relating to the tourism industry.

Essential Experience:

- At least five years’ experience in the tourism industry or a related government agency.
- Demonstrated success in developing, implementing and evaluating tourism marketing and communications strategies on time and within budget.
- Developed strategic planning and process skills manifested through the implementation of appropriate strategies and opportunities in a competitive environment.
- An ability to identify emerging trends and develop new ideas for established and emerging visitor markets.
- Experience leading teams of individuals with varied roles to deliver on strategic organisational objectives.
- Current Victorian drivers licence.
