Your Opportunity
**As the Defence Solutions Manager, you will**:
Lead an outcomes driven team and the development and implementation of key business objectives to maximise the earning potential of defence clients.
Manage the implementation of the Project to ensure consistency with organisational strategy, commitment and project goals are achieved.
Lead the Project by identifying project opportunities, establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders, develop business plans, implement commercially orientated actions and achieve identified performance targets.
Provide well-developed management skills with the ability to produce a collaborative project plan, deliver outputs, research and develop innovative strategies and solutions that mitigate risks and lead to the achievement of the Project goals.
This position reports to the General Manager Operations.
This is a Temporary, Full-Time opportunity, to 21 November 2025 unless otherwise determined.
The position will be based primarily at Acacia Ridge Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to the success of transformation and cultural change through promoting and modelling the values of Safety First, Working Together, Focusing on our Customer, Taking Responsibility and Showing Initiative.
Establish and develop effective relationships and networks to enhance TAFE Queensland's position as preferred vocational education and training provider to the defence industry by creating opportunities for current market position by developing strategic alliances and to minimise barriers for growth.
Manage and prioritise the strategic and operational aspects of the Project, including the preparation of project and financial plans and reports, management of the financial obligations of the funding arrangement, preparation of planning and reporting documentation and other forms of communication.
Provide high level strategic advice, information and reports to the Senior Executive Team and Business Managers on key defence markets and products for the future as well as key issues impacting sales planning and achievement of growth targets.
Cultivate networks and partnerships nationally to enhance TAFE Queensland's position as preferred vocational education and training provider to the defence industry and develop detailed market assessment and sales plans including market segmentation. In collaboration with the Finance Team and relevant Director, manage the budget, accounts and revenue associated with the Project in accordance with the obligations of funding agreement (audit requirements and in kind contribution values).
Critically analyse and review the progress of the Project through a broad range of continuous improvement processes, by establishing and monitoring performance indicators, identifying and addressing risks and regularly reporting recommendations to the Senior Executive Team based on findings.
Develop and manage an outcomes driven team while monitoring and reporting on sales initiatives to ensure the business defence project's objectives and current & future financial targets are met.
Lead and manage the TAFE Queensland's defence project management team, including the commercial tendering process.
Provide expert advice on collaborative projects which can be undertaken to increase the TAFE Queensland's capability and image as a preferred provider to the defence industry.
How you will be assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
Demonstrated superior people and team management skills, including excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Proven ability to consult and negotiate with all levels of government, industry and the corporate sector to build and sustain successful partnerships nationally and internationally.
Demonstrated high level knowledge of the national vocational education and training sector (or similar industry) with an emphasis on market development, contract management and sales growth.
High level analytical, research, conceptual and interpretation skills with the ability to manage complex issues, develop innovative strategies, set priorities and manage risk.
Proven ability to manage and lead sales and contract management teams, with the demonstrated success in the growth of commercial targets.
