**Your new role**:
The Systems Safety Case Lead is responsible for maintaining the ANZAC Class Safety Case. This includes the ANZAC Safety Case Report, ANZAC Class Formal Safety Assessment and the SPO Hazard Tracking Tool. The position resides within the Seaworthiness Group and interfaces with a variety of Defence customers; the primary agencies being the ANZAC SPO, ANZAC Class Ships, SC GRP, TUASSC, other AMO Groups, and Industry Participants.
**In particular, this role will see you**:
- Act as the System Safety Engineering Point of Contact for the Hazard Tracking Tool.
- Review and integrate contracted Engineering Change Projects System Safety Engineering documentations into the ANZAC Safety Management System.
- Ensure engineering documentation adheres to engineering standards and quality system requirements.
- Provide technical advice, within delegation, on System Safety engineering activities.
- Participate in support of Engineering Change tasks.
- Provide assistance, liaison, and technical advice and help desk support to Commonwealth stakeholders and the ANZAC Technical Support Network on matters affecting System Safety Engineering on the ANZAC Class and Shore Facilities.
- This position may be required to assist with Technical Risk requirements.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of the ANZAC Class Safety Case (including ANZAC Class Safety Case Report and Formal Safety Assessment) to manage the Mishaps and Hazards in the ANZAC Class.
- Provide first level assurance of the engineering change process from a system safety compliance perspective via seaworthiness artefact collection and compliance review.
- Assist in the seaworthiness case development (system safety focus).
**About you**:
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you will have;
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering to Degree level, or equivalent experience (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a technical background in Marine systems.
- Post-graduate study in Systems Safety Engineering (desirable).
- Ability to attain Engineering Authority Level 4 (ASQEP4) within 6 months of recruitment (essential).
- Experience with System Safety Engineering in a Defence environment.
- Minimum 2 years' experience of System Engineering Processes.
- Naval engineering experience in certification / classification / risk management.
- Understanding of the current Defence Seaworthiness Management System principles.
**Clearances**:
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
