**The Role**
The Migrant Skills Assessments (MSA) branch, operating as Trades Recognition Australia, is the assessing authority for a range of technical and trade occupations in support of the Government’s skilled migration program. The purpose of these assessments is to ensure that an applicant can perform at the required skill level for their nominated occupation when working in Australia.

Reporting to the Assistant Director (IT Systems & Enhancements, Skills Assessments and Systems Support), this Program Governance Officer role is responsible for program governance and assurance activities across the branch, including secretariat support for a governance committee.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
Responsibilities of the Program Governance Officer may include:

- Providing secretariat support for a governance committee, including arranging meetings, inviting invitees and presenters, coordinating reports to the committee, preparing agendas, updating the Terms of Reference, taking minutes, and assisting the Chair of the committee.
- Coordinating and quality assuring input into documents that are relevant to decision-makers, including issue and risk registers, project timelines and budget tracking documents, and program performance indicators.
- Analysing reports by program and support teams against standards and tolerances, including identifying where action may be required to manage emerging issues.
- Liaising with other teams to develop and implement governance, assurance and reporting processes that align with departmental practices and best practice methods.
- Investigating and researching the broader operational and policy environment, to inform a forward work plan and to anticipate changes that may require the attention of decision-makers or teams within the branch.
- Assisting the committee Chair and the executive team in the preparation of briefs and submissions to departmental, parliamentary, audit and other bodies, as needed.
