**The Role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director the primary responsibility of the Governance Officer - Secretariat is the Secretariat function for the Skills & Training Executive Committee.

The Skills Project Portfolio Office (SPPO) team provides fit for purpose governance and reporting for the Skills and Training Group in DEWR. The team provides the secretariat function for the Skills and Training Executive Committee (STEC). We are looking for an APS 6 who is experienced in Secretariat duties and keen to take on the role independently with assistance from the team and guidance from the EL 1 as required. The role will also include other activities as required and as time allows, though STEC Secretariat will be the primary role.

The position is necessarily based in Canberra due the STEC meetings being facilitated from Canberra. SPPO is part of the Strategic Policy & Projects Division. The division supports flexible working arrangements.

**Skills and Capabilities**
The holder of this position is expected to:

- Develop and support effective relationships, particularly with the Deputy Secretary’s office and Executive Officers in the Group.
- Be highly organised and able to work within deadlines whilst remaining flexible to adapt to changing priorities at short notice.
- Provide secretariat support for the Skills Group Executive Committee which meets fortnightly to oversee implementation of various initiatives.
- Develop agendas and coordinate papers, and the updating of actions, decisions and strategic risk registers.
- Facilitate the assigning of STEC action items to owners and provide support and follow up
- Maintain the STEC forward agenda.
- Develop and coordinate activities across the Skills Training Group to meet reporting and other obligations.
- Support Executive Officers, Branches and Divisions to meet various requirements
- Maintain Skills HQ (the Group’s intranet site).
- Contribute to planning activities, including the teams weekly work plan, tracking progress and prioritising tasks for the work area.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new governance arrangements, strategic planning and implementation requirements.
- Manage and action co-ordination tasks out to the Group as required.
- Supporting the EL1 with Senate Estimates if required.
- Have a collegiate approach within the team - seeking help when required and providing help within the team as required.
- Be familiar with Microsoft Teams, Sharepoint & One Note.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing APS employees as a temporary transfer at level or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 6 months.
