The Social Media Coordinator implements the department's social media content calendar, in support of the editorial plan and social media strategy.
The role will proactively monitor social channels and conversations, moderate channels, and actively engage with the department's social community. They will escalate emerging issues of concern and suggest strategies to resolve these issues.
They will report on social media activity and performance.
They will stay up to date with the latest social tools, trends and test new social media platforms.
They work closely with the social media content producers, providing support for social media channel planning, and ensuring feedback on social media performance.
As appropriate, they may also be required to provide surge support to other policy portfolios to ensure effective media and communications services can be delivered by the Branch during emergency, crisis and peak periods.
Accountabilities
- Contribute to the implementation of the department's social media content calendar.
- Schedule social media content and moderation of channels and emergency response as required.
- Proactively monitor social channels and escalate emerging issues of concern and suggest strategies to resolve these issues.
- Actively engage with the department's social community.
- Provide support for implementation of social media channel planning, strategic campaigns and priority initiatives.
- Respond as directed to emerging issues and emergencies under the direction of relevant staff and managers.
- Prepare reports on social media activity and performance for internal stakeholders.
- Identify risks and issues that may be contentious and provide authoritative and expert advice on how to manage them.
- Contribute to Communications and Engagement Branch strategy and services activity, monitor performance and lead best practice planning and execution that aligns resources to strategic priorities.
- Forge strong connections with stakeholders (internal and external) and work cross-functionally with other members of the Communications and Engagement Branch to facilitate consistent and high standard strategic social media content.
- Provide advice and assistance to departmental staff, senior executives and minister's offices on social media services.
