**About the role**:
The Wholesale Regulation Manager will work closely with the east coast merchant energy (wholesale, trading & portfolio management, and power generation) business to determine Alinta’s strategy in relation to wholesale market development issues, then implement the strategy through influencing the industry (including market operators, regulators, policy makers and participants) to achieve the outcomes required for Alinta to achieve its growth objectives.

Reporting to the Manager, National Wholesale Regulation this permanent full-time role will be best suited to someone who has regulatory experience with a commercial mindset. This is predominantly East Cast focused; however, as we run a national business, there is the exciting opportunity to work across all energy markets.

**Duties**:

- Work with the Manager, National Wholesale Regulation, and the Merchant Energy business to establish a strategy on wholesale market development issues.
- Assist with implementation of the wholesale market development strategy in way that can best achieve Alinta’s growth objectives.
- Undertake both qualitative and quantitative analysis of proposed market developments to assist in identifying Alinta Energy’s advocacy strategy
- Provide expert advice to the business to minimise Alinta Energy’s wholesale east compliance risks.
- Preparation of compelling written submissions to influence outcomes in respect of changes to applicable market rules and regulations.

**Skills and experience**:

- A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Economics, Commerce, Business, Law etc)
- Experience in the energy sector and conducting in depth analysis of wholesale energy market issues
- Well-developed oral and written communication (including report writing) skills which are concise and informative
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders by building and maintain trusted partnerships
- Strong PowerPoint skills with the ability to make concise and impactful presentations
