As the Manager People & Operational Safety, you will lead and oversee all safety aspects within Qantas Ground Services (QGS) Airports and Freight business units, with a focus on both people and operational safety. Reporting into the Head of QGS, you will be instrumental in driving transformational change, implementing initiatives aimed at reducing or eliminating operational incidents and workplace injuries. In this role, you will act as a safety champion for our frontline teams, working closely with the broader Qantas Group safety team to ensure regulatory compliance and foster a proactive safety culture.

You’ll have
- 5+ years experience in operational safety related role where you have implemented safety policies, frameworks and strategies
- Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline in Operational Safety
- Sound knowledge of Safety Management Systems, WHSE regulations and industry standards
- Proven leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and engage a diverse range of people through communication and leadership.
- An innovative and lateral thinker with a proactive approach, able to analyse critically, resolve complex issues and find creative solutions
- Ability to manage complex projects and develop/negotiate solutions to difficult problems
