**About the role**
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service is the first national parks agency in Australia to adopt a zero-extinction target. The Assistant Project Officer, Threatened Species is an exciting opportunity to be part of this and other state-wide conservation programs. You will work as part of a team contributing to the implementation, coordination and monitoring of threatened species projects focusing on achieving positive conservation outcomes.
Working closely with the Project Officer, Threatened Species and NPWS rangers, field staff and contractors you will assist in designing, planning, implementing and reporting on threatened species programs. This will involve occasional overnight travel to locations where you will often work alone and independently while adhering to strict safety protocols. This work requires a high degree of time management, project planning, accurate data collection and the ability to solve problems on the fly.
**About you**
As an Assistant Project Officer you are an ecologist who has experience with documenting, executing and reporting on field-based conservation projects and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders. You will feel at ease in a dynamic work environment and feel confident re-prioritising your work as need ed. Ideally, you will have experience with implementing recovery actions for threatened species.
You’ll be able to demonstrate your ability to organise yourself and others to meet deadlines and support multiple projects. With strong project management and coordination skills, along with excellent communication and collaboration abilities, you will be well positioned for success in this role.
