About the role
We have an opportunity for aPolicy and Project Officerto be part of our Firearms Registry, Police Prosecutions and Licensing Enforcement Commandteam. Policy and Project Officerprovides input to policy development and perform project management and support activities, collate data and provide analysis and advice to support Agency and/or Government initiatives that respond to the needs of police and communities.
On 6 December 2023, National Cabinet agreed to implement a National Firearms Register. This landmark agreement is the most significant improvement in Australia's firearms management systems in almost 30 years and will keep our community and police safe. The NFR will allow law enforcement to better assess firearms risks with near real-time information, and link registered firearms information with other relevant police and government information, providing significant improvement in law enforcement's firearms capability. We have an opportunity for a Policy & Project Officer to join our National Firearms Register (NFR) Project Team. The role will be attached to the Firearms Registry Command, located in Kingscliff. The Policy & Project Officer position is a pivotal role within the NSW Police Force's implementation of the NFR, supporting the provision of NFR related policy review and development of policy initiatives.
