The Ethical Standards Command is a multi-faceted unit in that it has a responsibility to investigate and oversee investigations ranging from breaches of discipline to serious criminal offences, as well as a preventative and compliance driven role through education, operational reviews and inspections strategies.

**The core capability requirements for this role are**:

- Undertake action to resolve complex and sensitive complaints, issues and reports containing allegations of corrupt conduct, serious misconduct and misconduct, Code of Conduct breaches and maladministration in a timely, professional and efficient manner through investigation and other processes.
- Lead, manage and actively participate in complex complaint assessments, investigations and reviews.
- Prepare and provide authoritative, strategic and operational advice on corrupt conduct and misconduct matters, including the provision of both written and oral advice.
- Monitor investigation and misconduct data to identify trends and issues and report on complex and systemic matters as they arise.
- Provide high level advice on key conduct investigation processes, complaints management and compliance to support planning for risk identification, reporting and escalation.
- Participate in the development of strategic, innovative and proactive policies related to staff misconduct and ethical decision making and make recommendations for procedural or policy reforms.
- Communicate, consult, negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders to ensure consideration of issues and delivery of positive outcomes for the department.
- Participate in and support the education and training of employees in regard to legislation, service policy and procedure.

**Role Requirements**:Mandatory Conditions**:

- A high standard of personal integrity as required by the Commissioner of the Queensland Police Service.
- Possess a current Queensland class 'C' drivers license of equivalent.

**Qualification**:

- Highly desirable - Certificate IV in Government Investigations or greater (not mandatory).

**Technical/ Operational/ Educational experience**:

- Highly desirable - Demonstrated experience and competency in conducting complex investigations relevant to Corrupt conduct and Misconduct, including exposure to the theory and practice of investigation (it is acknowledged that enhanced work performance can result from other learning experiences).

**Other**:

- Appointment may be conditional upon ability to obtain a National Security Clearance.
- The successful applicant will be required to maintain standards in line with the Queensland Police Service Code of dress and appearance.
- Travel and overnight absences may be required of this position.
- A serious discipline history check may be initiated on the successful applicant.
- A non-smoking policy applies in Queensland government buildings, offices and motor vehicles.
- If the successful applicant has been engaged as a lobbyist, a statement of their employment is required.
- You may be required to complete a period of probation in accordance with the Public Sector Act 2022.
