Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit an Asset officer for a 5-month temporary contract assignment. Council is located in the Inner West Suburbs of Sydney.

As an Asset officer, you will be responsible for implementing best practice asset management to ensure that all Council property is safe for the public and workers and is managed to maximize the benefit to Council, the community and facility users. The position will collaborate with customers, stakeholders and users to assist in the implementation of the Asset Management Plan that supports Council’s services, meeting community needs and objectives. This position is responsible for maintaining the asset register and the hazardous materials register and undertaking regular condition inspections to support both asset and property management.

This will be an initial 5-month temporary contract assignment with the potential opportunity for an extension.

**Duties will include but not limited to**:

- Maintain the asset register including processing works as executed, updating condition and registering assets as components
- Creation of Capital Project and Capital Work Order records for the Capital Delivery Facilities team in consultation with the Coordinator Asset Systems
- Maintain the buildings hazardous materials (eg. asbestos) register including carry out periodic inspections, update and manage the register, provide data and reports to other staff

**Requirements include**:

- Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or asset management
- Qualification at Certificate level in an appropriate discipline together with relevant experience in the collection of data.
- Knowledge of and experience working with GIS and database management.
- Understanding of construction lifecycle, maintenance and servicing activities involved in building assets to enable the development of long term maintenance and capital programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and efficiently in a team environment.
- Good computer skills and proficient in the use of finance and asset management systems/databases and Microsoft Office.
- Commitment to high quality customer service.
- Demonstrated organisational and problem-solving skills and the ability to work accurately and complete work to deadlines.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
