**Our purpose statement within Passenger Transport Policy**: We collaborate to create and inform connected and contemporary policy and a culture that supports the delivery of safe, accessible and responsive passenger transport services in Queensland.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Provide leadership in the identification, analysis, research and development of advice, strategies, legislation, administration, policy, programs and options for passenger transport outcomes.
- Provide expert policy advice to senior management, all Government (local, state, and federal), internal / external agencies, industry and community on issues relevant to passenger transport policy.
- Build, maintain and support internal and external relationships and collaborative networks to ensure new policy is developed and existing policy frameworks remain contemporary with stakeholder support which contributes to effective stakeholder governance.
- Manage and lead a team of policy officers to contribute to strategic policy processes by monitoring interstate and overseas research on trends, best practice and performance and other matters affecting passenger transport policy.
- Prepare and oversee the development of complex documents and correspondence including cabinet submissions, briefing notes, and strategic policy and research papers as well as correspondence on behalf of the Minister and the Department.
- Proactively manage all aspects of staff performance including acting as a mentor to staff, undertaking recruitment and selection, ensuring ethical behaviour and decision making, taking appropriate action to acknowledge good performance, and manage poor performance through performance development plans being in place.
- Provide safe and healthy workplaces through the provision of sufficient resources to comply with workplace health and safety and employee rehabilitation legislation, codes of practice, standards and departmental policy and procedures including risk management and corrective action programs.
- Leadership and people management including the management of recruitment, performance, development, team communication, and ensuring a safe and diverse work environment
- Management functions including business planning, financial management, governance and other responsibilities as legislated in the Public Service Act 2008 to ensure delivery of a responsive, effective and efficient services to the community and the Government
- Other accountabilities and tasks as reasonably directed. This position reports to the Director, Passenger Transport Policy and has 4 direct reports.
