**The Role**
The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner is responsible, under limited direction, for the extraction, examination of and reporting on data from a range of personal electronic devices in support of Joint Military Police Investigations, using correct evidence handling and chain of custody techniques, in both a laboratory and a field environment. The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner will produce evidentiary reports on examination results, and will testify to those reports, both in Military and civilian courts. The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner will perform moderately complex research tasks to supplement evidentiary report writing, and will display an in depth knowledge of digital device operating systems and database storage mediums. The APS 6 Digital Forensic Examiner works under the Defence Force Discipline Act 1982, as it relates to other Commonwealth legislation to ensure compliancy.
