**The Role**
Digital Forensics staff work to support military police in conducting law enforcement activities.

Some of the key duties include:

- gathering pertinent data from network servers, databases, smartphones, tablets, and other digital devices;
- utilise data capture tools, network forensic tools and database forensic tools;
- recover deleted and encrypted files, such as critical documents and images;
- exhibit/evidence handling;
- keep pace with advancing technology;
- provide input to governance reports;
- provide statistics related to investigative matters;
- write reports and evidentiary statements of findings to a court standard;
- provide training and mentorship to the wider military police workforce in collection techniques;
- provide on-the-ground support to investigators when required, including the execution of search warrants; and
- manage staff (EL1).

**About our Team**
The Joint Military Police Unit is the primary contact for all Defence policing matters, providing general duties policing and investigative capability to the ADF.

Within the JMPU, the Digital Forensics Detachment (DFD) provides direct support to investigators in locating, recovering and anaylsing data for evidentiary purposes in disciplinary/criminal proceedings. The DFD works with accredited equipment and software to support investigative outcomes.
- have an eye for detail;
- work in a small team of APS and military staff;
- be self-starting and comfortable in a high-tempo environment;
- have experience using forensic analysis software, encryption/decoding software and file recovery programs or similar;
- communicate effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing;
- understand, adjust and manage competing priorities;
- have experience with leading a small team and possess a desire to help empower your team to grow, sharing your knowledge and supporting them throughout their work (desirable);
- possess 2 - 3 years of experience in a related Digital Forensic role; or experience as a Team Leader in a related ICT field (desirable);
- have experience working in a cyber and/or investigative environment or similar (desirable);
- have experience working in forensic analysis and evidence collection (desirable); and
- have relevant qualifications (desirable).
