About the Role
We are currently seeking a talented, passionate, customer service-focused Conference & Events Manager to join our Sales & Marketing Team based in Brisbane. This role is suitable for a hands-on and vibrant Sales professional who is ready to take the next step.
**Responsibilities**:
Join our leadership team and help relaunch the iconic Stamford Plaza Brisbane.
Manage Conference & Events activity and service levels within the team to ensure the successful coordination of events including but not limited to the administration of enquiries, proposals, and contracts as well as record keeping, invoicing, payments, and reporting.
Coordinate vendors, exhibitors, stakeholders and other departments during event planning and delivery.
Lead upselling across the Conference & Events team to maximise revenue streams for the hotel.
Drive the Team to achieve sales targets set in conjunction with the annual budget, by converting enquiries into bookings and managing costs.
Produce weekly forecasts for Conference & Events departments and provide regular reports on revenues against budgets.
Conduct weekly banquet meetings with the Operations team to ensure the smooth operation of all upcoming events.
Ensure that all required Banquet information and all administration procedures are in place, and monitor said procedures to ensure compliance to company standards.
Ensure all inquiries are handled in an efficient, courteous and professional manner resulting in accurate and prompt response to clients with 24-hour period.
Build and maintain positive internal and external relationships.
Attend trade functions and promotions as required for new business and networking opportunities.
Keep up to date with the competitive marketplace to implement strategies to ensure the hotel stays ahead of the local market.
Ensure accuracy of post event billings and develop relationships to drive re-contracting of business.
Conduct pre and post-event follow up calls to gather feedback and prospect for repeat bookings.
Represent Stamford Plaza Brisbane in a professional manner and ensure its high standards and professional reputation are upheld.
Degree in Event Management or related field.
Experience in conference & event sales within 5-star Hotel environment.
A sound knowledge of the hospitality industry and a minimum 2 years’ experience in similar capacity.
Exceptional communication, presentation and influencing skills.
Experience in working with multiple stakeholders and managing large scare complex events.
Strong leadership skills & visionary change agent with the ability to create and champion new business.
Proven record of event sales in the industry.
Exceptional attention to detail.
High standards of personal presentation and grooming.
The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, under pressure and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of Delphi systems is an advantage.
