About the Business Unit
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985, and is part of the Victorian Government.
The work of the VIFM can be described as a cycle of three parts:

- Providing forensic medical & scientific services and tissue banking
- Learning from this work
- Researching and teaching.

VIFM is based at the Coronial Services Centre which also houses the Coroners Court of Victoria. This position is within the Corporate Services Division.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources & Organisational Development, this role is accountable for the provision of operational payroll services and the coordination of a number of HR support functions including the VIFM rewards and recognition program, reporting and HR communications.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Overseeing and delivering all aspects of payroll related activities to ensure the accurate processing of the Institutes fortnightly payroll, within nominated timeframes, including but not limited to contract variations, leave requests, allowances, deductions, new starters, terminations, salary packaging, timesheets and superannuation administration
- Undertaking investigations into, troubleshooting and resolving complex employment or payroll matters and recommending suitable courses of action or solutions
- Managing all Workcover payment processes including the recording of Workcover payments and coordination of this with the Manager HR &OD and the Return to Work Coordinator.

About You
- Demonstrated experience in providing high quality payroll and HR Information Systems, including system implementation, administration and maintenance, the ability to resolve problems, develop solutions and achieve results along with the ability to undertake investigations and systems related project activities
- Sound working knowledge and understanding of how relevant agreements, legislation, policies, and procedures relate to the delivery of payroll and people services in the Victorian Public Sector
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise advice to all levels of management and staff on a diverse range of issues associated with conditions of employment, taxation, superannuation, and payroll activities
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and solve complex payroll problems and develop suitable solutions, in addition to a thorough understanding of the impact of actions and issues on the wider enterprise systems
- Ability to work effectively within, and contribute to, an outcome-oriented team environment
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including high competency in using MS Excel or other reporting tools
- Well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, maintain data and brief senior team members on the status of project issues and administrative processes
- Proven ability to prioritise and complete tasks to meet strict deadlines in an environment of limited supervision.
