The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer, Accounts Receivable and Payable to join our Finance team in this full-time, ongoing APS Level 5 position.

Join a dynamic team at the Museum, where you’ll play a pivotal role in managing the entire accounts receivable and payable functions. As the museum has transitioned to a new cutting-edge financial system in July 2024, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and streamline processes during this exciting phase of innovation. Success in this role means ensuring seamless financial operations by maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders, managing payables in line with contract terms, and optimizing the receivables cycle to enhance cash flow.

**Key Accountabilities**
Under limited direction, this position is responsible for delivering the following functions:
- **Manage Accounts Receivable (AR) & Support Accounts Payable (AP)**:
Oversee the end-to-end process for AR and AP, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and on time, in accordance with contractual obligations.
- ** Reconciliations & Reporting**:
Ensure all associated balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time, providing reliable financial data for reporting and audits.
- **System Implementation & Process Optimization**:
Play a key role in the rollout of a new financial system, bringing fresh ideas to optimize AP/AR processes, enhance efficiency and improve internal controls.
- **Vendor & Stakeholder Management**:
Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal teams, ensuring that payment schedules are adhered to, and receivables are collected on time.
- **Cash Flow Management**:
Support the financial health of the museum by closely managing cash flow, including proactive tracking of receivables and coordinating the timely release of payables.
- **Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement**:
Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues within the AP/AR cycle, and drive continuous improvements to streamline processes, reducing manual workloads.

**Qualifications and/or relevant experience required**
**Mandatory**
- Relevant degree or certificate qualifications.
**Desirable**
- Experience with Certinia (previously Financial Force) - Salesforce compatible system.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in finance team - minimum 2 years.
- Experience with Sun accounting System.
