**About the role**:
This position is crucial to the City’s success, ensuring that a variety of civil works and asphalting activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. It also provides an opportunity to engage in a diverse range of tasks and activities while receiving valuable on and off-the-job training.

Role accountabilities include:

- Operate plant and machinery in accordance with operations manuals, workshop standing instructions and directions from management staff.
- Assist with the construction and maintenance of council's infrastructure.
- Undertake asphalting works including road paver operations.
- Undertake concreting duties including formwork and finishing.
- Understand and interpret traffic management plans and implement them as required.
- Be an effective member to the work team and maintain responsibility for the quality of own work.

**About you**

You will have experience in civil construction, including hotmix asphalting, concreting, and pipe laying together with the safe operation of small plant and other machinery. You will have a can do attitude, with the ability to work independently and want to work in a friendly team environment.
