The Opportunity: 

We are seeking an experienced Civil Design Manager to join our growing Civil and Water Utilities team, based in Hobart.  This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our Civil capability and contribute to our 2030 Strategy, which includes national growth in the Civil and Water Utilities market and strengthening our technical depth in this area.  

You will play a pivotal role in: 

  • Leading design management for water & civil infrastructure projects including pits, pipes, pump stations, ponds, hardstands, and earth retaining systems. 
  • Providing QA/QC support for general civil design to other team members 
  • Supporting the development of our Hobart Civil team and mentoring junior engineers and graduates. 
  • Act as a winner-doer, helping build and enhance our client experience 
  • Acting as a key technical reviewer and contributor to proposals 

What You Bring: 

  • 10+ years of experience in civil and water utilities design.  
  • Strong background in design management and multidisciplinary project delivery.  
  • Expertise in water and sewer infrastructure, including pump stations, pits, and pipelines.  
  • General civil design experience including ponds, hardstands, and retaining systems.  
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) accreditation.  
  • Proven ability to work across diverse engineering teams (civil, traffic, geotechnical, hydrology/hydraulics, and mechanical/electrical).  
  • A curious and growth-oriented mindset, always seeking new ideas and continuous improvement.  
  • Courageous and strategic thinking, with the ability to advocate for change and align team actions with broader business goals.  
  • Agility and adaptability to lead teams through change and refinement.
