**We are looking for full-time and part-time people who want to progress their career and/or use their team management skills in an office environment.**
The Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants who are passionate about fostering a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment to join our team as an APS5, People Team Leader.
The People Team Leader roles are in our Household Survey Operations team and Data Delivery (Contact Centre) team. These teams are responsible for the delivery of efficient, safe, cost-effective and high-quality survey results through a Field Interviewer workforce and ABS call centre.
These roles will be based in our Canberra (Ngunnawal Country) and Geelong (Wadawurrung Country) offices with flexible working arrangements including work from home arrangements.
**About the roles**:
These roles are only open to peoples that Identify and are recognised as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, under the Affirmative Measures Guidelines. This is your opportunity to play a role in ensuring the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voice and needs are embedded into our work outputs.
A People Team Leaders responsibilities include:
- Effective engagement with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of a survey
- Manage a team in a fast-paced data collection environment while building team capabilities and providing coaching for staff development
- Household Survey Operations: manage a team of Field Interviewers, and provide collection, printing, and despatch of survey information where required.
- Data Delivery: manage a team of approximately 25 APS2 Survey Officers to ensure telephone performance KPIs are set, achieved and reviewed.
- Support program reporting and monitor survey response rates to ensure effective data collection operations.
- Manage the privacy of survey respondent and comply with legislation requirements regarding data and personal information.
- Identify and support process improvement by analysing issues and developing solutions to improve work practices.
**What we are looking for**:

- project management skills and the ability to achieve results within a dynamic, complex, and fast-paced operational environment

- conceptual, analytical and creative skills, including the ability to problem-solve and provide innovative solutions.
The following skills are desirable, however not essential:
- an ability to manage a specific geographical area including monitoring response rates and enumeration activities
- an understanding of the work health and safety challenges and an ability to mitigate risks and respond appropriately to any incidents.
