Personnel Security

salary: $86,081 - $97,214 (plus 15.4% super and allowances)

- two permanent positions, full-time or part-time, with flexible working arrangements available

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is seeking to recruit a **Personnel Security Team Leader **and a **Physical Security Team Leader**. Both positions are ongoing, permanent positions at the APS 6 classification level and based in our office in Belconnen.

**About the roles**

Responsibilities of both roles include:

- manage agency protective security staff
- contribute to the development of agency security plans, policies and procedures
- manage procurement processes
- provide security advice to his or her own and other agencies
- prepare security reports
- coordinate and conduct security audits
- liaise with ICT staff on computer and communications security
- develop and maintain external and internal security related networks
- liaise with law enforcement and intelligence agencies, other emergency services, agency service providers, clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities specific to the
**Personnel Security Team Leader** role include:

- manage the agency’s personnel security program, including:
o development of security awareness training programs

o providing briefings and advice to agency personnel, including briefings to staff located or travelling overseas

o management of the personnel security aftercare program.

Responsibilities specific to the **Physical Security Team Leader** role include:

- management of the agency’s physical security program, including:
o security advice for office refurbishments or green-field sites

o the ABS’ panel of Security Construction and Equipment Committee (SCEC) endorsed consultants and other security industry specialists (e.g. CCTV, EACS, TSCM, etc.)

o the ABS’ guarding services

o the ABS’ SCEC locksmithing services.

**What we are looking for (selection criteria)**

To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience relevant for one or both roles:

- ability to lead and manage others, to support the outcomes and objectives of the workplace
- previous experience in roles relevant to personnel security and/or physical security; including protective security governance, physical security system design and administration, zone compliance and accreditation, personnel security and information security
- well developed verbal and written communication skills, problem solving and demonstrated attention to detail
- negotiation, conflict resolution, networking and representational skills
- ability to undertake specialist personnel security and/or physical security projects to meet compliance requirements or manage security risks
- qualifications and / or experience in a protective security environment within a government environment are essential, including (but are not limited to):
o Certificate IV or Diploma in Government Security

o Diploma of Security and Risk Management

o Certificate IV or Diploma in Government Investigations.
