The Case Management Group consists of the Vetting and Triage Unit, the Regional Forensic Hubs (Ballarat and Morwell) and the Forensic Integrated Sampling Unit.
**About the role**:
The Group Manager will develop and co-ordinate end-to-end oversight of the processing of cases from the initial service request through to evidence recovery, providing a standardised approach to managing casework and a customer interface with a strong client focus.

**As the successful applicant, some of your duties will include**:
- Manage and coordinate the daily and ongoing strategic operations of the Case Management Group with the objective of achieving client needs and expectations through co-ordination and oversight of responsive, timely, and high-quality forensic science services.
- Participate collaboratively in departmental strategic planning and decision-making processes.
- Through strong stakeholder engagement, understand and respond to new and emerging issues to ensure FSD resources are aligned to customer expectations.
- Provide organisational leadership that supports the Director, forensic operations and Victoria Police values and ethics, by professionally managing highly complex, contentious or sensitive information where high levels of negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills are demonstrated.
- Provide specialist advice to relevant Government Departments and agencies.
- Participate in change management initiatives and business improvement processes to maximise efficiency and productivity of the Case Management Group and other operational areas of FSD.
- Assist and make recommendations to relevant research and development projects in order to improve and enhance the methodologies of the Case Management Group, and to maintain the reputation of the Forensic Services Department as a national and internationally recognised “centre of excellence”.
- Liaise with scientific specialists and other professional personnel to assist in developing and maintaining a high level of decision-making regarding case acceptance and optimal progression.
- Collaboratively develop and monitor casework performance targets across FSD. Prioritise casework with other members of the group and take responsibility for driving activities that assist meeting customer requirements.
- Manage the Case Management Group's personnel and resources, modelling high level leadership attributes in the workplace through coaching, guidance and performance feedback.
- Maintain appropriate knowledge of Victoria Police and Forensic Services Department policies, procedures and related legislation.
- Coordinate integrated laboratory-based evidence recovery, including those pertaining to serious/organised offences.
- Present authoritative expert opinion and evidence relating to functions of the Case Management Group in Courts of Law in an impartial and concise manner. Provide definitive and authoritative casework advice in line with established authorisations.
**Skills & Experience**
- As the successful applicant, you will have: _
- Demonstrated experience in the successful management of large-scale teams and/or resources associated with forensic science or other operations addressing customer needs, organisational strategies and timelines.
- High level expertise in the delivery of quality business and forensic outcomes which are consistent with the strategic direction of the organisation.
- Proven leadership skills with demonstrated, consistent sound judgement and ethical behaviour in making and influencing quality expert forensic decisions, recognising stakeholder needs and tailoring appropriate responses.
- High level contemporary understanding of current and emerging forensic science issues and trends.
- Demonstrated record of achievement at a senior level in the development, implementation and management of strategic departmental and organisational initiatives in a culture of continuous business improvement.
- Proven track record of effectively managing and leading, motivating and building capabilities of practitioners.
- Proven ability to monitor client and stakeholder satisfaction, and constructively manage stakeholder issues to ensure positive outcomes for the stakeholder and the Department.
