As an experienced senior executive, you will play an integral role on the Treasury or PM&C Executive Board and be responsible for making significant contributions to the leadership and strategic management of the department. You will possess excellent stakeholder engagement capability with capacity to work across Government and with all members of the Executive Team, the Prime Minister / Treasurer and other PM&C / Treasury portfolio Ministers, and key stakeholders. You will provide outstanding leadership and act as an advocate for change to your Group and the Departments more broadly and ensure that outputs are delivered efficiently and effectively.

Desirable experience and qualifications

As Deputy Secretary, you will have:

- knowledge and understanding of Australia’s economic and financial systems and an ability to anticipate and analyse issues from a whole-of-economy and industry perspective;
- proven ability to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders and Ministers and capacity to perform effectively as a principle government representative to negotiate proactively and sensitively to resolve matters of technical, policy or legal complexity;
- exceptional leadership, people management and governance skills including understanding of risk and innovative approaches to policy and program delivery; and
- ability to drive departmental initiatives in a timely and effective manner.

Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, including but not limited to economics; accounting; taxation; law; public policy; or business and commerce is desirable. These positions will be Canberra based.
