SYNOPSIS:
**About the Deputy Secretary Role/s**
The Treasury is seeking experienced senior executives with exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills for the positions of Deputy Secretary.
Drawing on your proven experience as a senior executive, you will play an integral role on Treasury’s Executive Board, making significant contributions to the strategic direction of the department along with leading a Group to deliver on critical priorities for the Government.
You will possess excellent leadership skills that puts your people and the priorities of the Treasury at the centre of your thinking to deliver exceptional policies, advice, and services to Government.
You have strong stakeholder engagement capabilities and are driven by creating sustained and productive relationships with stakeholders on both the domestic and international fronts, including those from financial and government organisations. Through these engagements you can identify and address issues from a global and national perspective that deliver better outcomes for the Australian community. You will work closely with all members of the Executive Team, the Treasurer and other Treasury portfolio Ministers.
As a Deputy Secretary, you will have extensive professional or executive management experience and enjoy working in a multi-disciplinary, fast-paced and diverse operating environment.
**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**
As Deputy Secretary you will have:
- knowledge and understanding of Australia’s economic environment.
- ability to lead and motivate a large team to provide timely, influential and evidence based policy advice and deliver on the Government’s priorities.
- ability to anticipate and analyse policy issues from a whole-of-economy perspective.
- proven track record in leading large-scale, high-profile projects or reforms.
- proven track record in negotiating and working with senior stakeholders from the government, business, not-for-profit and academic spheres.
- ability to effectively brief senior stakeholders and Ministers, including on sensitive and complex matters.
- sound governance skills including understanding of risk and innovative approaches to policy and program delivery.
- ability to contribute to organisational goals and drive departmental initiatives in a timely and effective manner.
Tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, including but not limited to economics; accounting; taxation; law; public policy; international relations; or business and commerce is desirable. The positions are based in Canberra.
