Assistant Secretaries (SES Band 1) at Treasury play a vital role in the delivery of our purpose. You will leverage your strong leadership and collaboration skills to provide trusted and influential policy advice and analysis, engage with our stakeholders and partners, build capability, and ensure effective and efficient delivery of our priorities.

You will lead a branch with people, financial, risk management and governance responsibilities, and will actively contribute to the overall culture and purpose of the Treasury as a member of the leadership team along with First Assistant Secretaries and the Deputy Secretaries.

**Desirable Qualifications / Experience**:
As Assistant Secretary you must be able to demonstrate that you have:

- strong leadership skills developed through building and developing high performing and diverse teams
- well developed judgement and strategic thinking skills that enable you to effectively manage high-priority projects simultaneously
- an ability to develop productive and collaborative relationships with a range of diverse stakeholders and can represent the Treasury and the Australian Government at a range of forums
- operated in fast-paced and changing environments and
- strong communication skills.

Tertiary qualification(s) in Economics, Econometrics, Statistics, Taxation, Law, Public Policy, Business and Commerce are highly desirable. Relevant technical experience in a quantitative field, econometric data analysis and forecasting, is desirable for modelling roles.

Immediate opportunities:

- **Structural Analysis Branch, Macroeconomic Group** - provides a range of qualitative and quantitative advice on matters such as business and household microdata and data strategy and governance.
- **Corporate Tax Branch, Revenue, Small Business and Housing Group** - responsible for domestic tax policies that affect large businesses, including reporting regimes that target specific activities such as petroleum extraction.

Treasury will also use this process to establish a merit pool that may be used to fill other potential vacancies across all areas of Treasury, as required.
