Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science OR 4+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
- 7+ years of experience directly managing, mentoring, leading, and coaching construction management and/or commissioning professionals.
- 7+ years hiring, promoting, disciplining, and developing teams of professional construction/engineering staffs.
- 5+ years of general contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders, quality control, RFI/submittal tracking) associated with construction and project execution.
- 5+ years of experience directly constructing electrical engineering systems including large scale power distribution/generation gear and constructing mechanical engineering systems including cooling systems.
The APJC Construction Program Manager is a People Manager position in the APJC region leading a programmatic delivery team enabling a consistent approach to Data Center Capacity Delivery. You will lead a diverse and creative team solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. You will manage a fast-moving, intelligent team of professionals and the regional construction program delivering data center capacity to support Amazon’s growth in the APJC region.
Our Data Center Construction team owns and drives the construction life cycle from constructability, proposal development, bid analysis, award, to managing the onsite construction work. This position is based in Sydney and involves regular travel (up to 30% of the time) to other locations in the region
The Program Manager will be ultimately be responsible for ensuring the organization adopts a consistent and scalable approach to project management processes, pre-construction services, schedule management and commercial management. The program management team will provide the centralized support to Construction Managers (CMs) on preconstruction services, project controls (time and cost), administration tasks, systems, programs, processes, SOPs, templates and dashboards.
The role may be undertaken in Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore or Mumbai
Key job responsibilities
**The Program Manager will be responsible for**:
- Identifying gaps and creating processes to drive efficiencies and reduce level of efforts (LOEs) on repeating and overlapping works, eliminate non-value-add activities, removing blockers, and driving automation.
- Identifying gaps in global processes and creating processes, SOPs and templates that are suitable for APJC local requirements
- Eliminating unnecessary process
- Implementation of a programmatic approach to schedule management
- Implementation of a programmatic approach to Pre-Construction management
- Commercial management and cost control services
- Coordinating the Construction program and initiatives at the global level, driving for implementation
- Drive lesson learned across Construction
- Gather data across clusters to support reporting, including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking;
- Create and run training and onboarding programs on key knowledge and tools
- Build metrics for KPI reporting to drive better performance
- Various systems and administration support including propriety system such as Procore.
- Support CMs on documentation, processes and SOPs during audit.

8+ years’ experience in project management or construction management of mission critical facilities
- Leader in Safety culture
- Experience directly related to program delivery / PMO
- Experience with large scale technical operations or large-scale mission critical facilities
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
- Ability to define data center system-level architecture, specify/document performance and equipment requirements, create/communicate conceptual designs, and create/maintain project documentation.
- Ability and willingness to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs and duration with no impact on quality and reliability.
